What percentage of retail business in India is conducted within the unorganized sector?
by definition if you consider all the tax cap shops within the space of 500Sq feet as unorganized retail(as most economist define it) ,it was 96 % earlier and is expected to be 95% this fiscal year due to FDI. By the fact that more than 50% of our economy is unorganized and that retail contributes to 15% of total GDP (and given the nature and movement of retail movement ) it can be derived that it is of 7.5% of the total GDP ( >15% of GDP from unorganized sectors)
